This new narrative of subtle glamour told \nby Mr. Abreu, a goldsmith with more than 40 years mastering \nmetal work, which has created objets d’art that straddle the \nline between the fine and decorative arts. \nDriven to enhance the rich legacy of Arts & Crafts, In Bloom \nis inspired by natural elements which re-edit the ancestral \ntechnique of chiselling in a present-day design objet. This \ntechnique allows the sculpture of decorative and bucolic motifs \nof extreme finesse in a metal sheet. Using a chisel, drawings are \nmarked in the metal sheet to form volumes, reliefs, and textures.\nBy creating artful aspects to functional objects, Mr. Abreu \naims “to enrich life by adding art into the everyday”. “It’s an \nongoing process. The \nproject lies on the border between serial production and one-\nof-a-kind sculptures, being each piece resolutely functional. \nOsmosi Furniture and Osmosi Vases are Limited Editions \nmade in hand blown Murano glass and Marble.\nRenowned for his unique pieces and limited editions for \nprestigious manufacturers such as Venini, Baccarat, Emmanuel \nBladed combines for Osmosi new technology with traditional \ncraftsmanship in an entirely innovative way, a virtual fusion \nbetween marble and hand-blown glass. These materials are put \ntogether with a precision that is only possible thanks to high-\nlevel digital technology.\nThe process begins with making the glass. The hand-\nblown form is then captured by a 3-D scanner. Through \nthe digitalization of the form, the matching shape is CNC \n(Computer Numerical Control) milled into the marble, \ncreating two unique pieces that match each other perfectly. \nThey are separate pieces, but each has no meaning without the \nother. They fit together through gravity alone. Like Cinderella \nOSMOSI by Emmanuel Bladed\nand the glass shoe, there is only one unique piece of glass that \ncan fit into one unique piece of marble. The effect is a perfect \nsymbiosis between materials. \nEmmanuel Babled’s design approach is based on the idea that \na good project is born through direct contact and physical \npresence in the territory of its production. Observing \nmaterials and techniques in their authentic surroundings, \ngaining a feeling for places and social conditions have become \nan important part of his work method. Territorial skills and \nthe human factor are elements that determine the result.\nHis works can be seen in noteworthy Galleries around the world \nsuch as Galerie Yves et Victor Gastou in Paris, the acclaimed \nNilufar in Milan, or the Twenty First Gallery in New York. \nHe started his activity as a designer in Paris and moved to \nMilan in 1992, the city where he founded his own studio and \nworked for 18 years.
