The inspiration for the Grant
collection comes from different
sources: the ironic and slightly dandy
style of Hollywood legend Cary
and the military aplomb of heroic
general Ulysses. There are also nods
to equestrianism and the large luxury
cars of the pre-war period. Grant
encapsulates the pure masculine
essence of a clean, understated and
completely unostentatious elegance,
evoking the nostalgia of a stylistic and
existential golden age. The frame of
the poufs is made from birch plywood
and the edges and seat are padded
with polyurethane foam. The lower
base is made from black lacquered
MDF. They are entirely upholstered
in Pelle Frau® leather. The model
with storage compartment has a
lid-seat made of birch plywood and
the inside compartment is lined with
black technical fabric. The opening
mechanism is equipped with a system
that holds the cover in place when it
is opened and softens its closure. The
pouf is entirely upholstered in Pelle
Frau® leather, again with lattice work
along the outside edges.
Tristan Auer has designed a collection
of ottomans for Poltrona Frau which
stand out for their nomadic, versatile
and flexible elegance: the Grant seats
are equally at home in public and
residential settings, on their own
or in bespoke combinations.
