Nel primo divano, progetto
anticipatore di straordinaria poesia
disegnato da Toshiyuki Kita nel 1989,
tre moduli di forma geomorfa diversi
l’uno dall’altro formavano una grande
isola di forma circolare. Nel 2006,
con le Saruyama Islands, il progetto
viene ripreso e ampliato affiancando
al primo un arcipelago di isole colorate
e indipendenti: un divano, una chaise
longue, una poltroncina e tre diversi
pouf: ogni singolo elemento è una
mini-struttura abitabile coerente, per
presenza formale, alla natura organica
insita nel progetto originario.
Non semplici oggetti ma campi di
relazione in grado di interpretare
un movimento, una variazione di flusso,
e di ampliare l’orizzonte delle possibili
configurazioni spaziali.
The first sofa, a revolutionary
project of exquisite poetry designed by
Toshiyuki Kita in 1989, is made up
of three modules of different shapes
which, joined together, formed a large
circular island. With Saruyama Islands,
in 2006 the design was developed and
expanded, combining with the first an
“archipelago” of independent and vibrant
islands made up of a sofa, a chaise
longue, an armchair and three different
ottomans: each element works together
or independently of each other, at the
same time maintaining unchanged the
organic aesthetic features and function
inherent in the initial design. Something
more than mere objects, they are spaces
of interaction that are able to interpret
a movement, a shifting flow, and to push
the boundaries of configurations
of space.
