Between narration and communication

ofthepublic(listeners)ascannibalism.
Starvedforreassuringstories,thelatteris
alwaysconstrainedbytheconvincingstate-
mentsintheperformanceoftheformer.This
relentlesspursuitofanarrativethatmana-
gestorenewthiscontractisthereforethe
wayinwhichtheaudienceconstantlyseeks
verificationofits(electoral)choice,andthe
onlyrecourselefttothepoliticianstocertify
theirlegitimacyinfrontofthegeneralpublic.
Therelationshipbetweenstorytellingand
politicalactionemergesdifferentlyinthe
practiceofMarinellaSenatore,whouses
communicationnotasaunique,persuasive,
andlegitimizingstrategy,butasaneffective
waytoproducerelationsthatarefounded
onreciprocallistening.
