« Pour cette première collection de mobilier, j’ai
imaginé l’histoire d’un sculpteur, qui, dans son atelier
aux Milles trésors, conçoit une série de tables à
partir de fragments d’architectures (cubes, colonnes,
sculptures, décors…). Cela nous donne à voir une
architecture déconstruite et nous surprend par son
apparence insolite au caractère inaccoutumé.
Tout comme l’Œuvre métaphysique de Giorgio
De Chirico (dont je me suis inspirée), cette série
de tables transpose la réalité au-delà de la logique
habituelle et plonge le spectateur dans un rapport
d’interprétation à l’objet mais aussi dans une situation
de lecture et d’expérimentations multiples.
Pour les matériaux, j’ai opté pour des finitions et
matériaux très différents, pour ne pas dire opposés :
du bois laqué « effet miroir », très tendu et très brillant,
pour la profondeur et l’intensité qu’il apporte à la scène
et la pierre pour son caractère pure, tangible, invariable,
et, à la fois, très réaliste. Je voulais tout simplement
que les matériaux accentuent le caractère absurde
et irrationnel de la scène.

lumineuses est le fruit d’un reflexion pour faire
fusionner le réel et l’imaginaire »

“Magic Circus Éditions features the use of the colour,
the choice of materials and the excellency of the artisanal
craftsmanship as essential elements.
For this first collection of furniture, I have imagined the
story of a sculptor who creates tables, in his workshop full
of treasures, from architectural fragments (cubes, pillars,
sculptures, decorations…). This allows to see a deconstructed
architecture and to surprise by its unusual appearance.
Just like the metaphysical work of Giorgio De Chirico from
who I took my inspiration of, those tables transpose the
reality beyond the regular mindset. They bury the spectator
into an interpretation of the object but as well in a situation
of lecture and multiple trials.
I have selected very different finishes and materials, if not
opposed: the lacquered shiny wood with a mirror effect
bringing depth and strength to the scene, and the stone
for all at the same time its pure, concrete, invariable
and realistic aspect. I simply wanted that the materials
emphasise the absurd irrational nature of the scenery.
The close similarity between the furniture and my luminous
creations is the result of a consideration to combine real
and fantsasy.”
