In his purist approach to architecture and interior design, Eero Saarinen sought the
essential idea and reduced it to the most efective structural solution. His Pedestal
Collection derived from a desire to resolve the “confusing, unrestful world” under-
neath tables, which he solved with a sculptural single-legged base. As a result, these
tables bring visual and physical freedom to the surrounding environment.
Dans son approche épurée de l’architecture et du design d’intérieur, Eero Saarinen re-
cherchait l’idée essentielle, qu’il traduisait en une solution structurelle à la fois simple
et efcace. Sa collection Pedestal est née d’un désir de remédier au « monde confus
et agité » sous les tables, qu’il résolut par un piètement sculptural unique. Le résultat :
des tables qui apportent une liberté visuelle et physique à l’espace environnant.

l’essenza delle forme, riducendole alla soluzione strutturale più pura ed efcace. La
sua Pedestal Collection nasce dal desiderio di risolvere il “mondo confuso e disordi-
nato” sotto i tavoli. La risposta fu una base scultorea a gamba unica, che ancora oggi
dona agli ambienti un senso di leggerezza, ordine e libertà visiva.
Mit seinem puristischen Ansatz in der Architektur und Innenarchitektur suchte Eero
Saarinen stets nach der essentiellen Idee und reduzierte sie auf die wirkungsvollste
strukturelle Lösung. So entstand seine Pedestal Collection aus dem Wunsch, die „ver-
wirrende, unruhige Welt“ unter Tischen zu beseitigen, was ihm mit einem skulpturalen
Einbein-Untergestell gelang. So bringen diese Tische visuelle und physische Freiheit
in den umgebenden Raum.
