Lumiere /1990 — design Rodolfo Dordoni
About shedding light
lamp is on), and a dark chrome fi nish for the
tripod. In the Nuances version (2021), the
matt fi nish metal parts are coordinated with
the colour of the blown glass diffuser.
Throughout the 90s, multiple types of
Lumiere were launched (from the fl oor lamp
in two heights and with different orientation
of the lampshade, reading, ceiling and
suspension lamps again using the diffuser
even upside down to direct the light directly
above or below) and the small table lamp
version made its début in 1998 and was an
immense success.
In addition, a series of special edition
lamps were produced over time: the Golden
Limited Edition in 2003, in a large version
with polished gold tripod and white glass
with small fragments of gold leaf; in 2008
the small Special White lamp in white for
both the glass and the mount, with a special
cylinder-shaped packaging; in 2016, on the
occasion of its twenty-fi fth anniversary, with
a lampshade in special metallic glass that
grants a glimpse of the lighting technology
components when the lamp is on. More
recently, for its thirtieth anniversary, the
lamp was proposed in the Bulles and
Pastilles models (2020) characterised by
the hand-blown glass diffuser on glossy
white, embellished by two historic craft-
based relief processing phases. Currently
available in the catalogue, it was initially
presented with customised packaging and
designer-autographed limited edition pieces.
In 2009, with the XX Series, the original
model was revamped in its proportions,
making them bigger and more notable in
the line geometry. Cold grey and white are
the refi ned colour options for the lampshade
in hand-blown glass, combined with the
aluminium or black chrome fi nish for
the mount.
In this evolutionary scenario, the original
presence and formal clarity remain
unchanged, making it an icon that is always
relevant, to the point that it still constitutes
one of the brand’s most successful
commercial models.
