Eileen | armchair | DRAW Studio
Eileen, the new armchair designed by DRAW Studio, draws inspiration
from the work of Irish architect and designer Eileen Gray.
The supporting frame is reinforced by slanting oval section stay-rods which
make the wood flex, as if it were a crossbow suspending the upholstered
seat, while its surfaces are embellished by refined wood finishes – in solid
walnut or ash – and by solid brass trims. A sweeping curve extends from
the foot to the armrest to outline a fluid upward movement, an iconic and
unmistakable graphic stroke.
Eileen, la nuova poltrona disegnata da DRAW Studio, trae ispirazione dal
lavoro della designer e architetta irlandese Eileen Gray.
La struttura portante è sorretta da dei tiranti obliqui di sezione ellittica
che fanno lavorare il legno in flessione, come fosse una balestra che
sospende la seduta imbottita, mentre le sue superfici sono impreziosite
da ricercate finiture lignee – in massello di noce o frassino – e da dettagli
in ottone massiccio. Con un’ampia voluta che dal piede posteriore risale
verso il bracciolo, si delinea un moto fluido ascendente, un segno iconico
e inconfondibile.
