Tane Mahuta in lingua Maori il Kauri Millenario è
l’albero nativo più grande e famoso della Nuova Zelanda,
nonché il legno più antico del mondo. Apparsi nel periodo
giurassico, questi giganti vegetali sono stati abbattuti
da enormi cataclismi 50.000 anni fa, rimanendo
sepolti sotto metri di fango fino ai giorni nostri
straordinariamente intatti.
Vengono riportati alla luce tronchi che arrivano a 70
metri di lunghezza e 9 metri di diametro, vere e proprie
sculture naturali pronte per essere lavorate e diventare
pezzi di design straordinariamente unici.
Tane Mahuta in Maori means Millennial Kauri, which is
the native biggest and most famous tree of New Zealand,
and also the oldest wood of the world.Grown up in the
Jurassic Period these vegetal giants have been cut
down by enormous natural disasters more than 50.000
years ago thus remained buried under meters of mud
and unchanged until our days. Logs up to 70 meters
of length and 9 meters of diameter are brought to light
again, which are true natural sculptures ready to be
transformed into unique design pieces.
