Indo-Chinese countries banned the export \nof this raw material, meaning that the company had \nto reinvent its production process. The manufac-\nture of their products was then moved to Vietnam, \na market that opened the doors to Asia for them.\n 1990s\nAt the end of the 1980s, when POINT decided to \nfocus on outdoor furniture, it invested a great \ndeal in innovation. As a result, in 1990 it devel-\noped Shintotex®, a new synthetic fibre that mimics \nnatural fibres, with all their advantages but none \nof the drawbacks. One of the firm’s two showrooms is \nin Gata de Gorgos. This is a space where custom-\ners are attended to in person and where they can \nenjoy the company’s new products. In the 1960s POINT set the pace of life in \nthe town, which was influenced by the factory’s \ntimetable.
