The range of textile materials found in\nthe MUUTO collection have different requirements for cleaning and care.\nPlease see the ‘textile section' pp. 104-107 in this catalogue where the \ncleaning and care instructions for all standard textiles are described.\nLEATHER\nMUUTO leather products are upholstered using anilin Silk leather from Camo \nLeathers or a more enduring semi-anilin Elmosoft leather,from Elmo which \nwe recommend for public environments. On the anilin leather, the natural \nfeatures of the animal hide are shown and may result in small color and \nsurface variations between products. The surface of this leather is either \nminimally treated or untreated which preserves its natural look and ensures \nthat the leather has a soft and warm feel to it. Anilin leather can be expected \nto darken with time. It is recommended that anilin leather furniture is not be \nplaced in direct sunlight or in air conditioned rooms, as the leather does not \ntolerate dry air or sunlight well, Clean the leather with a dry cloth regularly. \nTreat the leather at least four times a year using only special leather treatment \nproducts for anilin leather. \nPOLYMER FELT\nPolymer felt is a special composite material made with two ingredients; PET \nand polyester. PET is an environmentally friendly material partially made from \nrecycled plastic bottles that is very shape stable. Polyester is a very hard-\nwearing material that keeps its Color and structure. \nClean the polymer felt by vacuuming it on a regularly basis. Remove stains \nwith a clean and damp cloth. \nCOTTON\nMUUTO throws are made from 100% cotton. The cotton is dyed and then \nwoven by hand. Cotton is a natural material that is strong and hardwearing \nbut also very easy to keep clean and attractive. Our cotton products are \nmachine washable at 30 degrees Celsius. Wash separately to prevent Color \nchanges. \nWOOL\nMUUTO rugs are made from 100% New Zealand wool, a high quality natural \nmaterial that makes cleaning and maintenance easier. The wool rugs are \nwoven by hand. For regular cleaning, vacuum the wool rugs. Clean stains \ninstantly with sparkling water.\nOAK\nOak wood is a traditional Scandinavian material, with resistance to outside \nfactors such as water and fungus making it ideal for use in furniture de-\nsigned to keep its beauty over many years. \nMUUTO products with an oiled oak veneer should be cleaned on a regular \nbasis using a clean and damp cloth. Remove stains using a mild mixture of \nwater and detergent. Products with solid oak planks in particular when used \nfor table tops, should also be kept clean using a damp cloth on a regular \nbasis and stains should be removed using a mild mixture of water and deter-\ngent. For long term care, it is recommended that oak table tops should be \ntreated 2-3 times a year with special oak wood oil that assists with making \nthe wood resistant to stains and fluids. \n \nASH \nLike oak, ash wood is another key material in the Scandinavian furniture \ntradition. At MUUTO, naturally bright oiled ash wood is used in products to \nbring lighter Colored wood into the collection. It is also used for all of our Col-\nored furniture products, being easily carved, shaped and an excellent surface \nfor lacquering that helps to ensure vibrant Colors that last. \nColor lacquered and oiled ash wood should be cleaned on a regular basis \nusing a damp and clean cloth. Remove stains using a mild mixture of water \nand detergent. Avoid contact with sharp objects as these can leave scratch-\nes in the wood and lacquer.  \nWOOD FIBER & PLASTIC COMPOSITE\nAn innovative wood and plastic bio-composite material was specially \ndeveloped for MUUTO’s Fiber chair. The use of up to 25% Swedish pine \nwood fibers and Norwegian spruce fibers in the chair’s shells endows it with \na uniquely warm matt texture that breaks up the sleek surface of the plastic. \nAs the wood fibers are a natural material, small variations in the color of the \nfinal product may occur. For regular cleaning, use a damp and clean cloth. \nRemove stains using a mild mixture of water and detergent. \nLAMINATE\nThe laminate selected for MUUTO products is partly made from melamine \nresin, one of the hardest synthetically produced organic materials, and \nmakes the surface highly resistant towards scratches and wear and tear.\nFor regular cleaning and general care, clean the laminate with a damp and \nclean cloth. Remove stains using a mild mixture of water and detergent.  \nLINOLEUM\nLinoleum is made of a mixture of raw materials including linseed oil, wood \nflour and resin. The result is a silky matt look and feel that adds a tactile \ndimension to the surface of a table top. \nThe linoleum can be cleaned on a regular basis with a damp and clean cloth. \nRemove stains using a mild mixture of water and detergent. It is recommend-\ned to use a linoleum polish on the surface of the product 2-3 times a year.\nSTEEL\nThe steel used in MUUTO products come from a Swedish steel supplier\nthat exclusively uses locally sourced and worked steel. The steel is either\npainted with a powder coating or chrome plated. We use a special powder\ncoating that is highly scratch and wear resistant. The chrome quality is a\nchrome 3 variant, which is robust and stainless. Clean both powder coated \nand chrome steel on a regular basis using a clean and damp cloth.
