Dall’altro \ninvece esso mette in luce i risultati raggiunti, che \nhanno portato a un nuovo concetto di illuminazione, \nquello di “Opera Illuminante”.\nIl 2016 si conclude con la partecipazione del maestro \nFornasier alla mostra “Murano Oggi. Emozioni di \nvetro”, presso il Museo del Vetro di Murano; un evento \ndi grande spessore, organizzato dalla Fondazione \nMusei Civici di Venezia e curata da Gabriella Belli \ne Chiara Squarcina. Il maestro Fornasier partecipa \nalla mostra con due sue “Opere Illuminanti”: uno \nsplendido lampadario LU di color rosso e, per la prima \nvolta presentata al pubblico, Bolle di MetalLU, una \nvera e propria mixed medium-installation, realizzata \ncon metallo e vetro soffiato, che, coerentemente con \ntutto il lavoro del maestro Fabio Fornasier, sorprende, \naffascina e “illumina” l’osservatore.\nIl 2017 è l’anno di Light Blowing, evento di particolare \nimportanza per il maestro Fabio Fornasier, perché \norganizzato presso il suo personale showroom-\natelier, in occasione della 1° edizione di Venice Glass \nWeek. Light Blowing è nell’intento delle curatrici, \nIlaria Ruggero e Samantha Punis, “un dialogo a più \nvoci attraverso le proposte di nove dei migliori artisti\u002F\ndesigners del vetro a livello mondiale”.\nIl 2018 è l’anno del GAS a Murano: la Glass Art \nSociety è un’organizzazione, che mira a incoraggiare \nl’eccellenza, promuovere lo studio e sostenere la \ncomunità mondiale di artisti che lavorano con il \nvetro, e che da 40 anni organizza annualmente \nuna settimana di eventi, mostre, workshops, \ndimostrazioni, conferenze e altro in una location \nsempre diversa, ma sempre fortemente relazionata \nal vetro e alla sua lavorazione.\nDurante il GAS 2018, il maestro Fornasier partecipa \nalla mostra Lux Lumen, organizzata da Berengo \nExhibition Space e riservata ai lavori dei più famosi e \napprezzati lighting designers di livello mondiale. \nIl 2018 si conclude con la mostra “The after”, \norganizzata in occasione della seconda edizione \ndi Venice Glass Week e ancora una volta, presso il \nnuovo showroom personale del maestro Fornasier. E’ \nl’occasione per presentare al pubblico la nuova Opera \nIlluminante di Fabio Fornasier, un lavoro ancora in \nprogress, che Fornasier ha deciso di esporre ancora \nallo stato embrionale, riservandosi di presentare il \nprototipo ingegnerizzato e definitivo nell’edizione di \nVenice Glass Week del 2019 , il Sottovuoto; una volta \nin più, il lavoro di Fabio Fornasier continua a stupire \ne ad affascinare, con un’opera mai vista prima, \ndal forte profumo di arte concezionale e foriera di \nuna denuncia da parte del maestro Fornasier, su i \nproblemi del mondo del vetro.\nA Murano, isola della laguna veneta, c’è quella \ntradizione artigiana che è difficile trovare in altri \nluoghi. \nDa secoli maestri vetrai tramandano i segreti del loro \nmestiere alle generazioni che li seguono e nutrono \nuna storia fatta di successi e di apprezzamenti in \ntutto il mondo.\nL’arte del lampadario in vetro, disegnato nei canoni \ndell’eleganza più sofisticata e realizzato con le \ntecniche consumate nelle secolari fornaci, ha posato \nle sue firme in palazzi e saloni dell’aristocrazia \ninternazionale senza mai perdere, nel corso del \ntempo, nemmeno la sapienza di un piccolo dettaglio \ndecorativo. \nQui, in questo ambiente fertile eppure sofferente, \nper le difficoltà nelle quali il mercato dell’originalità \nversa, la manualità si è sposata con la ricerca e la \ntradizione si avvale dell’innovazione per produrre \noggetti inediti ma sempre fedeli agli standard \nqualitativi che la storia di quest’isola custodisce.\nFabio Fornasier è figlio d’arte del vetro. Seguendo \nle orme del padre Luigi, è diventato maestro vetraio \ngiovanissimo e non ha mai smesso di cercare forme, \ncolori, finiture e rese migliori per i suoi lavori. \nLa sua produzione, contrassegnata da uno stile \nriconoscibile, affatto simile alla produzione delle altre \nfornaci, ha messo le tecniche artigianali tradizionali \nmuranesi al servizio della creatività artistica \ncontemporanea giungendo a creare lampadari che \nsono a tutti gli effetti installazioni, forme sinuose \ned eleganti che conservano la struttura meccanica \ntipica ma alla quale vengono applicate tutte quelle \nparti in vetro che danno vita ogni volta a un nuovo \noggetto.\nIl suo capolavoro, ad oggi, è LU-Murano, un lampadario \nche si trasforma sempre e rimane se stesso, diverso \ndagli altri, con una grande personalità.\nFornasier ha il curriculum dell’artista affermato: \nha tenuto seminari alla Gerrit Rietveld Academy di \nAmsterdam, al Royal College of Art di Londra, alla \nPilchuck Glass School di Washington D.C. e poi in \nFrancia e ancora in Danimarca. \nHa partecipato alla Biennale di Venezia nel 2006 \nesponendo Vinum Vitrum, lampadario realizzato \nriciclando 180 bottiglie di Antica Fratta; nel 2007 \nha vinto un importante premio alla Biennale di \nCheongju nella Corea del Sud; sempre in quell’anno \nha realizzato il premio in vetro conferito a Takeshi \nKitano, vincitore della 62ma Mostra Internazionale di \nArte Cinematografica di Venezia.\nNel 2010 LU-Murano è l’immagine del manifesto per \nla comunicazione di Maison Objects a Parigi e vince \nil primo premio all’ UK Lighting Design Award. \nNell’anno successivo, tre esemplari vengono \nacquistati dal Philips Design Museum per essere \nstabilmente esposti e nel 2013 due grandi LU \nvengono installati a Villa Bellagio, il più famoso \ncasinò del mondo, a Las Vegas. \nSempre nel 2013, Fornasier ha presentato, in una \nesposizione al Liassidi Palace di Venezia, ilLusion: \ndue LU all’interno dei quali, nella struttura portante, \nsono stati installati dei diffusori acustici superando \ntutte le difficoltà di realizzazione che gli elementi di \nvetro potevano comportare. Posizionati uno opposto \nall’altro i due elementi permettono una copertura \nsonora di 360°.\nParlare di lampadari è davvero riduttivo. Queste \nsono delle vere e proprie sculture dove la maestria \ntraspare, con la sua secolarità, sui riflessi del vetro \ne dove l’innovazione si inserisce con pudore ma \npermette di generare installazioni che sorprendono \nlo sguardo e, in questo caso, anche l’udito avvolto da \nuna raffinata resa acustica.\nDal 2013 a tutto il 2015 Fornasier continua a dedicarsi \nalla ricerca, alla sperimentazione e alla realizzazione \ndi prototipi e nel 2016 riprende l’attività espositiva, \npartecipando a Villa Vescovi, in provincia di Padova, \n7\n6\n",6,{"image":36,"text":37,"number":38},"\u002Fmedia\u002Fimages\u002F11\u002Fb090d6b4b72537f1e44ffa845035c5-28d1ee58a6.7.png","artists and designers, curated by artist and gallery \nowner Jean Blanchaert with the coordination of Irina \nEschenazi Focsaneanu. \n2016 sees the birth and presentation at Design.Ve of \nLUgiano, the two-faced chandelier, a work resulting \nfrom an introspective journey that had led maestro \nFornasier to retrace his artistic career, from classical \norigins to contemporary creations. \nLUgiano, the work which - like the divinity with two \nfaces - is able to look at the past and the future of \nan ancient history such as that which links Venice \nwith glass. \nOn the one hand, LUgiano is a tribute to the artistic \norigins of its creator who, from a technical point of \nview, was trained according to classic styles and \ntraditional Murano glass-processing techniques. On \nthe other, it highlights the results achieved, which \nled to a new concept of lighting, that of “Illuminating \nOpera”.\n2016 ends with the participation of maestro Fornasier \nin the “Murano Today. Glass emotions” exhibition at \nthe Murano Glass Museum, a major event organised \nby the Venice Civic Museums Foundation and \ncurated by Gabriella Belli and Chiara Squarcina. \nMaestro Fornasier participates in the exhibition \nwith two of his “Illuminating Works”: a splendid red \nLU chandelier and, for the first time presented to \nthe public, Bolle di MetalLU, a real mixed-medium \ninstallation made with metal and blown glass, which \nsurprises, fascinates and “illuminates” the observer, \nin line with all maestro Fabio Fornasier’s work.\n2017 is the year of Light Blowing, an event of \nparticular importance for maestro Fabio Fornasier, \nbecause it is organised at his personal showroom-\natelier on the occasion of the 1st edition of Venice \nGlass Week. The intention of curators Ilaria Ruggero \nand Samantha Punis is to create “a multiple-voice \ndialogue through the proposals of nine of the world’s \nbest glass artists\u002Fdesigners”.\n2018 is the year of GAS in Murano: the Glass Art \nSociety is an organisation which aims to encourage \nexcellence, promote study and support the world \ncommunity of artists working with glass; for 40 \nyears it has been organising annually a week of \nevents, exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, \nconferences and other initiatives in a location that is \nalways different, but always strongly related to glass \nand its processing.\nDuring GAS 2018, maestro Fornasier participates \nin the Lux Lumen exhibition, organised by Berengo \nExhibition Space and reserved for the works of the \nmost famous and appreciated lighting designers \nworldwide. \n2018 ends with the “The after” exhibition, organised \nfor the second edition of Venice Glass Week and \nonce again at maestro Fornasier’s new personal \nshowroom. It is an opportunity to present to the \npublic the new Illuminating Work by Fabio Fornasier, \na work still in progress, which Fornasier has decided \nto exhibit again in an embryonic state, reserving the \nright to present the final engineered prototype at \nSottovuoto, the 2019 edition of Venice Glass Week; \nonce again, the work of Fabio Fornasier continues to \namaze and fascinate, with a work never seen before, \nmarked by a strong scent of conceptional art and \nharbinger of a denunciation of the problems in the \nworld of glass by maestro Fornasier.\nThere is at Murano, an island in the Venetian \nlagoon, a craft tradition the like of which is very \nhard to find anywhere else. For centuries master \nglassmakers have handed down their secrets from \ngeneration to generation to develop a history of great \nsuccess while earning the appreciation of people all \nover the world. The art of making the glass chandelier, \ndesigned to the most sophisticated and elegant \nstandards is carried out using consummately honed \ntechnical skills and centuries’ old furnaces. These \nsignature works decorate the palaces and halls of \nthe international aristocracy and have never lost \nwith the passage of time the particular minutiae of \ntheir delicate and decorative features. This is a most \nfertile environment for the craftsman but one that \nhas also to operate in a market characterised by true \noriginality that is itself beset by many difficulties. In \nthis market manual dexterity must seek new forms \nof expression and yet not lose of its own tradition. \nInnovation is needed for the creation of objects that \nare new and exciting but that remain faithful to the \nhighest quality standards set by the heritage and \nhistory of the island.\nFabio Fornasier is a child of the world of glass. \nFollowing in the footsteps of his father Luigi, he \nwas very young to qualify as a master glassmaker \nand since that time has never ceased to search for \nnew forms, colours, finishes and the best possible \nrendition of his works. His production is highly \nindividual and recognisable, standing out from that \nof other furnaces. He has harnessed the traditional \nartisan skills of Murano and put them to the \nservice of contemporary artistic creativity to create \nchandeliers that are true installations. Their sinuous \nand elegant forms retain the typical mechanical \nstructure to which all the glass parts are applied in \nways that give life to completely new objects. His \ngreatest masterpiece to date is called LU-Murano, a \nchandelier that is in constant transformation while \nremaining wholly itself, different from all the others, \nwith a real personality of its own.\nFornasier has the curriculum of an established \nartist and has held seminars at the Gerrit Rietveld \nAcademy in Amsterdam, at the Royal College of Art \nin London, at the Pilchuck Glass School Washington \nD.C. and also in France and Denmark. He participated \nin the Venice Biennale in 2006 with his exhibit Vinum \nVitrum, a chandelier that recycled 180 bottles of \nAntica Fratta; in 2007 he won a major prize at the \nCheongju Biennial in South Korea and in the same \nyear was awarded the Takeshi Kitano prize, winning \nthe 62nd International Art Cinema Exhibition of \nVenice.\nIn 2010 LU-Murano was the poster image for Maison \nObjects in Paris and won the UK Lighting Design \nAward. The following year three of these were \nbought by the Philips Design Museum for permanent \nexhibition and in 2013 two large LUs were installed \nat Villa Bellagio, the world’s most famous casino in \nLas Vegas. \nAgain on 2013, in an exhibition at Liassidi Palace \nVenice Fornasier presented his ilLusion: two LUs \nwithin whose supporting structure speakers were \ninstalled, successfully overcoming all the difficulties \ninvolved in integrating these with an essentially glass \ncreation. The speakers were positioned opposite \neach other to provide 360° sound. To call these simply \nchandeliers would most certainly be reductive. They \nare true sculptures where the master craftsmanship \nreflects through glass and radiates through centuries \nof tradition. There is here real innovation, at the same \ntime tasteful and unobtrusive, capable of generating \ninstallations that amaze and also in this case please \nthe ear with the refined system of sound.\nFrom 2013 to the end of 2015 Fornasier returns to \ndedicating himself to research, experimentation \nand the creation of prototypes; in 2016 he resumes \nexhibition activity at Villa Vescovi, in the province of \nPadua, taking part in the “GLASS -
