Si tratta di un processo lungo e \ncomplesso che implica la selezione \ndi materiale totalmente naturale \ngrazie all’utilizzo di bio polimeri \nche non hanno nessun contagio da \nelementi chimici e inquinanti.\nLa ricerca, avviata da alcuni anni, \ngiunge ora alla sua fase finale con-\nsentendo di avere un materiale che \nrisponde alle caratteristiche di sos-\ntenibilità derivando da scarti della \nproduzione agricola che non entra-\nno in competizione con il cibo per \nuomini e animali. Con un processo \nbiologico i materiali di scarto una \nvolta “aggrediti” da microrganismi \ndanno origine a una biomassa che \nè simile alla plastica. Dopo una se-\nrie di processi per affinarne la com-\nposizione, questa biomassa diventa \nun materiale di primissima qualità, \nche Kartell per primo, nell’arredo, \nha sperimentato nell’iniezione e \nnello stampaggio come le altre ma-\nterie plastiche. Per essere sosteni-\nbile il materiale deve essere anche \nbiodegradabile ovvero avere la \ncapacità di essere smaltito, a fine \nvita, totalmente in natura in acqua \ne terreno.\nStiamo lavorando con istituti di \nricerca e università per individuare \nun materiale bio che risponda so-\nprattutto alle esigenze funzionali e \nstrutturali che richiede un prodotto \ndi design. \nLe marché demande une plus grande \nsensibilité à l’égard de l’environnement. \nEn vertu de cette exigence, Kartell se \nconcentre sur les processus éco-dura-\nbles de son produit complètement recy-\nclable et certifié Greenguard grâce aux \nfaibles émissions dans l’environnement \net poursuit ses activités de recherche \ndans le secteur Bio. Les \ndéchets sont « agressés » par des mi-\ncroorganismes à travers un processus \nbiologique et se transforment en une \nbiomasse semblable au plastique. Ce-\ntte biomasse est ensuite soumise à une \nsérie de processus pour en affiner la \ncomposition et devient une matière de \nqualité supérieure que Kartell a été le \npremier à appliquer dans le secteur de \nl’ameublement à travers les techniques \nd’injection et de moulage comme pour \nles autres matières plastiques.
