Mr. Rabell’s \nvision was to restore the factory to its former prestige \nand ensure that the ages-old Bohemian glassmaking \ntradition endured into the 21st century. \nWith Brokis, Jan Rabell created a lighting brand \noffering entirely different products than those \npreviously produced at Janštejn Glassworks. Several \nnew Italian-style furnaces were built, and production \ntechniques were refined. Some, such as grinding and \nglass painting, were discontinued, and others were \nrevived, e.g., glassblowing using optic moulds, and \ntraditional hotshop techniques. Original and nearly \nforgotten formulas for manufacturing coloured glass \nwere reinstated and are now characteristic of the \nBrokis brand. \nBrokis has firmly established itself as a leading \ninnovator in glass lighting.
