The idea is to make all-wood \nfurniture that is easy to configure, based on a single \nconstructive principle-detail that allows them to be \nassembled, taken apart and reconfigured with extreme \nflexibility, making the user an active participant in the \nfinal stages of the design process.\nThe core of the system is the vertical upright with a \ncharacteristic inverted V shape, equipped with a perimeter \nwith a distinctive section. Stackable on itself \nby means of a simple gravity joint (another recurring \ntheme in Mangiarotti's opus), its shape allows it to \naccommodate, by locking through a \"dovetail\" joint, \nbookcase tops, table tops, storage modules and even \nbed frames. Geometry becomes structure in a system that \npays special attention to the measured use of resources \nby offering the possibility of sharing a single support to \ntwo adjacent elements.\nMuch-loved and published at the time of its debut, the \nmodular design of the Cavalletto system paved the way \nfor a new generation of furniture and is still contemporary \ntoday, a timeless classic that never goes out of style.\nPartecipazione ed economia degli elementi: due perni del \npensiero del Maestro milanese che trovano una delle loro \nprime manifestazioni compiute nel sistema Cavalletto. \nSistema di arredo dalla versatilità geniale, il progetto di \nCavalletto risale al 1953. L'idea è di realizzare mobili \ncompletamente in legno facilmente componibili, sulla base \ndi un unico principio-dettaglio costruttivo che permette di \ncomporli, smontarli e riconfigurarli con estrema flessibilità \nrendendo l’utilizzatore attivamente partecipe nelle fasi finali \ndel processo progettuale. \nFulcro del sistema il montante verticale dalla caratteristica \nforma a V rovesciata, dotato di un perimetro dalla sezione \nparticolare. Sovrapponibile su se stesso mediante un \nsemplice giunto a gravità (altro tema ricorrente nell’opus \ndi Mangiarotti), la sua conformazione gli permette di \naccogliere, bloccando attraverso un incastro a “coda di \nrondine”, piani per librerie, piani tavolo, moduli contenitori \ne persino strutture per letti.
