“Tra il 1967 e 1968 andava di moda la cosiddetta ergonomia.
A noi interessava progettare oggetti il più possibile fl essibili,
che potessero adattarsi […] Così abbiamo iniziato a rifl ettere
sul materiale che permettesse questa adattabilità: come la
neve in cui uno si butta e ci lascia impresso sopra lo stampo
del suo corpo.” In realtà, l’ispirazione dei tre progettisti
viene dai sacchi di iuta dei contadini e qui riadattati in un
tessuto imbottito di polistirolo. Simbolo di libertà, nomadismo
e “immaginazione al potere”, come nelle strade si andava
celebrando proprio nell’anno della progettazione...
“What was referred to as ergonomics was fashionable between 1967
and 1968. We were interested in designing objects which were as fl exible
as possible, which could adapt […] So we started to think about which
material could allow this adaptability: like the shape of your body left
behind when you lie down in snow.” In actual fact, the inspiration of the
three designers originates from farmers’ jute sacks, which have been
adapted here in a polystyrene padded fabric. A symbol of freedom,
nomadism and “power to the imagination”, just like the words being
chanted through the streets the year it was designed...
