t is 25 years since The Rug Company first opened its doors, and what an extraordinary quarter
century it has been. From humble beginnings on London’s Lots Road to our current global
community, the business has continued to evolve and flourish thanks to a passionate group of
people all dedicated to its success.
To celebrate this milestone, we have brought together not just a round-up of our current collections
but also some of our favourite images, which we hope have inspired you over the years. Further within
these pages are insights and anecdotes from those who have been and continue to be part of our
creative mosaic. This includes co-founders Christopher and Suzanne Sharp, long-time team member
and Head of Sales Sam Turner, and the designers who have shared their expertise with us and with our
loyal customers.
Creation is a collaborative process and we’ve been fortunate enough to work with an incredible roster
of talent. This includes artists, craftspeople, architects, fashion designers and product designers, all of
whom have brought their individual style, flair and inimitable magic to our rugs. Iconic names such as
Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Kelly Wearstler have built a library of distinctive
and original designs that offer something for everyone, whatever their interior style.
None of this could be achieved without the artisans and weavers in Nepal, whom we are continually
privileged to work with. Thanks to their unmatched skill and unwavering commitment, we are
always proud to offer the finest-quality, handcrafted rugs that merge time-honoured techniques and
luxurious natural materials with the brilliance of our designers’ visions. The result is a collection of
award-winning designs guaranteed to last for generations.
