Bert’s
TAL Top 3
INTERVIEW
Export manager Bert Soenen has
been with TAL since 2007. With all
his experience, he’s perfectly placed
to shed light on his three favourite
TAL-families of the moment:
The Berrier family, MIX and 48V.
You’ve shown enthusiasm for our Berrier
product family on many occasions.
What makes this family so special for you?
Our Berrier family is named after a delightful
technically gifted football player. That aspect of
technicality is what defines this product family and
what made me such a big fan of the Berrier light-
ing. Clearly, I’m not the only one, as it has become
a real top-seller. Meanwhile by natural evolution,
Berrier Junior, has also become very popular.
Berrier Junior is a quite beautiful addition to the
Think Small family.
What would you say makes the Berrier Lighting
so popular with the customer?
The glass lens, with its excellent anti-glare effect,
is certainly an eye-catcher. Berrier is also very ver-
satile, although (in my opinion) shown to its best
advantage above a table, a bar or a reception desk.
The beam angle on a tabletop is really just perfect.
Does the price tag look equally appealing?
Certainly! Berrier lighting is also very attractive
pricewise, which I’m sure will have contributed to
its popularity. But there are more selling points
than just the affordable price. To name a few,
Berrier fixtures consume very little energy and the
state-of-the-art LEDs have a long-life expectancy,
because of their well calculated cooling balance.
The housing doesn’t become hot, which suggests a
perfect heat dissipation.
What’s noteworthy about the Berrier Junior,
which you mentioned earlier?
I would definitely point out the thin wire, for
whomever prefers the suspension cable to be a bit
thinner and tighter. There are some newly added
finishes like anodic brown and bronze. Then there’s
the atmospheric Halosphere dim-to-warm option.
Installation-wise you can just go either way, sur-
face-mounted or trimless-recessed, it’s all possible.
