MARBLES ARE NATURAL STONES, OF SEDIMENTARY ORIGIN AND ARE FORMED MAINLY BY CALCIUM CARBONATE (CACO3). THEY ARE FORMED THROUGH A METAMORPHIC SEDIMEN-
TARY ROCKS PROCESS, THAT CAUSES A COMPLETE RECRYSTALLIZATION OF CALCIUM CARBONATE. THE COLOUR OF MARBLES DEPENDS ON THE PRESENCE OF MINERAL IMPURITIES
(CLAY, SAND, IRON OXIDES, LIME, FLINT NODULES) PRESENT IN GRANULES OR IN STRATUM IN THE SEDIMENTARY ROCK. PURE WHITE MARBLES ARE THE RESULT OF THE PROCESS OF
METAMORPHOSIS OF
LIMESTONE FREE FROM ANY IMPURITIES. ALL COLORED MARBLES CONTAIN INCLUSIONS, IMPURITIES, MINERALS.
AS A NATURAL MATERIAL, FINISHED WITH NATURAL PROCESSES THAT MAINTAIN ITS NATURAL CHARACTER, MARBLE MAY HAVE SMALL HOLES AND INCLUSIONS BUT THIS DOES NOT
AFFECT THE QUALITY OR THE STRUCTURAL STRENGTH. MARBLE IS POROUS AND HAS A POOR RESISTANCE TO ACIDIC SUBSTANCES (VINEGAR, LEMON JUICE,
TEA, COFFEE, WINE ETC.) THAT EVEN IN SMALL QUANTITIES, CAN STAIN THE SURFACE AND PENETRATE INTO THE PORES FORMING MAT SPOTS. THERE IS NO PRODUCT THAT CAN
PROTECT IT FROM SUCH SUBSTANCES ENSURING ABSOLUTE RESISTANCE.
SEALANTS IN THE FORM OF LIQUIDS CAN BE APPLIED ON THE SURFACE OF MARBLE TO INCREASE THE PROTECTION TO WATER AND OLI-BASED SUBSTANCES. SEALANTS ARE NOT ABLE
TO PROVIDE ANY RESISTANCE TO ACIDIC SUBSTANCES. WE RECOMMEND TO ALWAYS PROTECT THE TABLE TOP WITH COASTERS, PLACEMATS, TRIVETS TO
PREVENT DAMAGES CAUSED BY ACCIDENTAL SPILLAGES OF LIQUIDS AND FOODS, HOT SPOTS AND HOT PLATES. STONE INTERNATIONAL WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE
CAUSED BY SPILLAGES OR HOT SPOTS. ALL OUR MARBLES ARE QUARRIED FROM THE DEEP GROUND OR FROM THE WILDEST MOUNTAINS. THEY ARE NATURALLY IMPERFECT MATERIALS
AND ARE REFINED WITH TRADITIONAL PROCESSES USING THE LATEST MACHINERY AND POLISHED WITH NATURAL WAXES TO PRESERVE THE ORIGINALITY AND UNIQUENESS OF EACH
PIECE.
WE SELECT THE RAW MATERIALS TO OFFER THE BEST COLOR AND TEXTURE CONSISTENCY BUT COLOR AND VEINING PATTERN VARIATIONS FROM BLOCK TO BLOCK AND EVEN FROM
SLAB TO SLAB (BELONGING TO THE SAME BLOCK) ARE QUITE COMMON AND UNAVOIDABLE. EACH PIECE IS ONE-OF-A-KIND. THAT’S THE NATURAL MARBLE ESSENCE, THE NATURAL
MARBLE UNIQUENESS.
HOW TO APPLY A MARBLE SEALANT
THERE IS NO PRODUCT THAT CAN PROTECT NATURAL MARBLE FROM BEING STAINED OR CORRODED BY AGGRESSIVE SUBSTANCES ENSURING ABSOLUTE
RESISTANCE. SEALANTS IN THE FORM OF LIQUIDS CAN BE APPLIED ON THE
SURFACE OF THE MARBLE TO PROVIDE A BASE PROTECTION TO WATER AND OIL BASED SUBSTANCES.
SEALANTS ARE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ANY RESISTANCE TO ACIDIC SUBSTANCES. SEALANTS PERMIT TO BUY SOME TIME BEFORE THE MARBLE IS STAINED IN
ORDER TO WIPE QUICKLY THE SURFACE WITH WATER OR NEUTRAL DETERGENTS. DO NOT LET SPILLAGES STAY ON THE MARBLE SURFACE FOR MORE THAN 30
MINUTES.
WE RECOMMEND TO ALWAYS PROTECT THE TABLE TOP WITH COASTERS, PLACEMATS, TRIVETS TO PREVENT DAMAGES CAUSED BY ACCIDENTAL SPILLAGES OF
LIQUIDS AND FOODS, HOT SPOTS AND HOT PLATES.

PRODUCT INFORMATION
All of our stones are natural – presenting all the variations and unique colorings found in nature. Since natural stones come from the quarry as a whole block, the exact nature of any single slab is unk-
nown. As all natural products, no two pieces will look alike. None of the natural veins, pores, and variations are to be considered defects, but instead characteristics that make your table one-of-a-kind and
enhance its beauty. Because our tables are all naturally polished, the polish will vary across your table top. This is simply a result of a natural polish on a natural stone and one more way to emphasize
the inherent unique beauty of each table. All natural stones are porous and should be cared for like a fine wood table. Our tables are polished with a natural paste wax. The wax is absorbed by natural
stone. This process provides the shine on the table top. Because the polish is natural, the shine can be uneven. This irregularity can be caused by either a varied absorption of the wax into the stone or by a
varied effect due to the refraction of the light against miner-als which have been deposited in different directions in the stone. This uneven polish is absolutely natural and normal and not to be considered
a defect. The natural paste wax gives a certain amount of moisture repellence but does not offer full protection. Any beverage or liquid spilled on the top needs to be removed immediately to avoid rings
or marks. Hot pots or hot plates should not be placed directly on the stone surface.
Coasters, place mats and trivets are recommended to protect the stone surface from damages due to accidental spillages of acid liquids and due to hot pots or hot plates. Stone International will not be
responsible for any marks or damages caused by liquids being spilled with no table protection.
The table top should be wiped using a damp cloth to remove any dust and dirt and then dried using a soft duster. Spills that could damage it, i.e. acidic substances such as fruit juice, wine and spirits,
curries etc. should be wiped away as quickly as possible. Ensure that moisture does not become trapped under vases or mats as this may cause the finish to ring. Protect table from the heat by using
quality tablemats and coasters.
The marble slabs are normally prous and must be filled before polishing. When slabs are filled and polished, most of the natural holes and fissures are fille but residual voids, fills, and fissures are not to
be considered defects but natural characteristics of the materials. Every effort is made for the fill to blend with the coloration of the table top but the fill will never be invisible. Occasionally small openings
are missed and remain open. This is not considered a defect.
Because of the natural veining in travertine, marble and granite, natural stress points are always present. Fault lines are natural to stone as the rings on a tree trunk. These fault lines are created during
the formation of the marble by the presence of a foreign substance with a different density than the surrounding portions of the marble. Fault lines, as the holes in travertine, are not a defect but natural
to the product and visible fault lines do not indicate weakness.
Natural stones, unlike wood, are dead materials which do not alter their structure over time. Once assembled, if used with the proper care, they will last forever. Consequently, a breakage on a table top
in the customer’s home is generally due to miss-handling or mis-treatment. Like glass, you should not sit or stand on a marble table. When properly assembled the dining table should always have the
top attached to the base. In the event you need to move the table after assembling, ALWAYS detach the top from the base first. A top should always be carried perpendicular to the floor – just like a glass
top. It should not be dropped or laid flat.
