Shuwa Tei’s collection of wooden furniture is a boundary-crossing series of wooden
chairs and tables that combines traditional craft practice and modern production
techniques to create a high-impact hybrid of Western and Asian furniture styles.
Each of Tei’s works – the innovative reinterpretations of recognisable
forms, such as the Donna and Fly Lounge chairs – represents a fusion
of design ideas, reaching across different times and places to make
something unmistakeably of the present but respectful of the past.
