Towards innovation
The company’s vision, constantly reinterpreted and fuelled by continuous progress
in the technological field, has generated unprecedented solutions, which pose the
architecture to make light the true protagonist of architecture.
Ongoing research
Simes’ research is now focused towards some fundamental themes. The solutions
that enrich the product portfolio of new elegant collections, useful, logical and always
aligned to the lighting designers needs.
SOLIDS AND VOIDS
The development of the so-called “solids and voids”,
has created a wide range of products designed as void
volumes: visually very light objects, without borders
that can be passed from one side to the other creating
continuity in the environments. The lighting fitting is an
extremely thin element that emits light so impalpable,
almost magical.
STRUCTURAL LIGHT
Ghost family managed to translate into a product the
concept of “structural light”, the total integration
between the building material and the luminaires.
Ghost is a subtraction instead of an addition: no visible
luminaires are added to the architecture, on the contrary,
a void is created to be filled with light.
MICROLIGHTING
Microlighting collection has pushed to the extreme
the concept of miniaturization by reducing the product
dimensions and optimizing visual comfort. Tiny objects
that disappear into the architecture focusing attention
on the luminous light effect. A design and aesthetic
refinement made even more complex by the need to
ensure an IP protection for the outdoor enviroments,
that has managed to find expression in a wide variety of
products collection designed in every detail.
MATERIAL EXPRESSION
Wood and Concrete collections were distinguished by their
use of materials and expressive languages that investigates
the relationship between light and materials. The dialogue
between the aluminium, in its most natural colors and
warm shades, and amber of illuminated wood, become a
good combination for a perfect integration between lighting
fixture, landscape and natural elements. Cement is a rigorous
material but poetic, who knows how to age, transform and
take on the colours of the surrounding environment.
MATERIAL AND COLOURS
Many families are enriched with new colors accompanying
the current evolution of the lighting going towards the use
of dark colors like black and anthracite, but also natural
colors such as green and burnished bronze to look for a
perfect mimesis in the landscape. Research on materials
continues through the introduction of the elegant solid
bronze inserts of Bell family, a new material combination
that tells the desire to propose new refined details.
DECORATIVE MINIMAL
The need to extend the living space of the house to the
outside and to furnish the living outdoor with the same
care and refinement used in the interior, is a consolidated
trend. Even in this case SIMES wants to represent this
identity unequivocally, presenting new solutions with a
decorative soul keeping a clean and formal elegance that
distinguishes all collections, even the most technical.
LIGHT QUALITY AND VISUAL COMFORT
The light efficiency is important but it cannot be the only
parameter to define the quality of light. More important
parameters are today the color render index, the visual
comfort, precise and adjustable light beams and the
management of the light. There are numerous families
inside this catalogue developed with rear-mounted and
comfortable optics, associating to the light source a
system of shutters that can define the beam and avoid the
possibility of glare.
FLEXIBILITY
Flexibility in the use of light, shape and directionality of
the beam, the possibility of changing on site atmospheres
and situations is one of the main themes of research.
A flexibility increasingly desired because able to add
freedom in the definition of spaces. Products such as
Flower Zoom, Pivot and Between allow you to modify the
opening and the the light beam direction in real time
adapting the light beam to the project with a gesture.
