Spesso immaginiamo il mosaico come una composizione pittorica
ottenuta mediante l’utilizzo di frammenti di tessere di diversa
natura e colore (marmo, vetro, conchiglie) che può essere decorata
anche con oro o pietre preziose e arrivare a tessere incredibilmente
minute nel caso di preziosi oggetti in Micro Mosaico; con l'incredibile
selezione di immagini contenute in questo volume, Sicis desidera
dimostrarVi che oggi l'arte del mosaico è ancora di più.
La storia del mosaico ha dunque inizio con le prime civilizzazioni
della storia e risulta pertanto essere fra le prime forme artistiche,
assieme alla scultura ed alla pittura, delle arti figurative in genere.
We often imagine mosaics as pictorial compositions obtained by the use of
fragments of materials (tesserae) of different nature and colour (marble,
glass, shells), that can be decorated with gold and precious stones in
varying shapes and sizes including the most minute tiny tesserae as
in the case of Micro Mosaic objets. The history of mosaics began with
the first civilizations in history, and is thus among the first art forms,
together with sculpture and figurative arts in general.
