Stain removal
Water: Soak up as much as possible with a cloth and leave to dry. For any remaining marks, use denatured alcohol
or shampoo.
Alcohol, spirits: Clean with shampoo and blot with denatured alcohol.
Butter, oil, sauces: Dab with ethyl alcohol and shampoo. If stains are persistent, blot with diluted ammonia.
Coffee, tea: Clean with shampoo; dab with denatured alcohol and ammonia for persistent stains.
Wax, paraffin: Place a sheet of kitchen paper over the stain and run a lukewarm iron over it;
then dab with ethyl alcohol and clean with shampoo.
Glue, paints, varnishes: Pour ethyl alcohol, dab with lukewarm water or shampoo.
Paint colours: Oil - ethyl alcohol and shampoo; tempera - cold water for fresh stains, specialist advice for old stains.
Cosmetics, medicines: Apply ethyl alcohol, then clean with shampoo. For persistent stains, use diluted ammonia
or denatured alcohol.
Grass, legumes: Dampen with denatured alcohol.
