Latex produced using the Talalay process
We use exclusively Talalay latex in almost all of our manufactured mat-
tresses. Latex (rubber) is an elastic raw material extracted from the sap
of the rubber tree. SCHRAMM latex is produced using the complex Ta-
lalay process. Only with this process is the mould placed under vacuum
after filling, which ensures optimal distribution of the material. At appro-
ximately minus 50 °C, the smallest air particles are distributed evenly.
Vulcanisation is then initiated at approximately 105 °C. Finally, the latex
is washed to remove any substances that may cause allergies. The result
is a homogeneous, open-pored latex with offset perforation, which offers
unrivalled lying and ventilation properties (= moisture transport). Its out-
standing point elasticity is unmatched. The processing of Talalay latex
is far more energy-efficient than that of comparable synthetic materials.
In addition, its supplier, the tropical rubber tree, binds the greenhouse
gas CO2 like all plants. When the mattress is later disposed of, only as
much CO2 is released back into the atmosphere as the tree needed to
grow – a perfectly climate-neutral product.
Leather
Leather is a natural product: distinctive, individual and durable. It is one
of the most exclusive and valuable cover materials. Leather breathes and
can absorb and release body moisture. It ensures natural heat balance
and is not cold, as many people believe. Touch is the best proof. If you
place your hand on the leather, you will feel the warmth after a few mo-
ments.
Linen
Linen has high thermal conductivity. The fabric has a refreshing and
cooling effect. It is skin-friendly, anti-allergenic and does not build up
static electricity.
