MultiPot+
F
In the years since the birth
of MultiPot (2005) we have
undergone radical, paradigmatic
change: we have changed our
TVs, we have exchanged opinions
and thoughts digitally, we have
learned to carry around the
power of a super computer in
our pockets, we have shared
throughout the world our
photos for free. Technology and
innovation have become like
the air we breathe, a necessary
and inevitable presence, of
which people acknowledge the
irrefutable usefulness. During
these ‘different’ years, MultiPot
has skilfully adapted to the spirit
of the times by becoming a vase
for cultivating vital energies. This
is a fate common to the products
that have become benchmarks and
behavioural archetypes, such as
Apple’s iPhone or Google’s clicks,
Facebook’s likes or Instagram’s
selfies. All this has happened
in just a few years, in which the
digital challenge exploded and
new tools and conducts took
hold. As explained by Dante
Donegani and Giovanni Lauda,
the designers who created the
product, “The digital era of
consumer electronics was fully
under way (when digital cameras
and the iPod, as well as mobile
and Blackberry phones, were all
the rage) and there was the need
for a ‘home’ for keeping all these
devices while they recharged
and where they could be found
quickly. The idea sparked from
that need”. MultiPot, therefore,
was a ray of light in an era in
which every individual was
inexorably interconnected and
concentrated on his or her own
individuality as well as on his or
her friends and acquaintances.
Technological devices extend our
inner selves in what we do, in
cultivating aesthetic emotions,
in creating relationships: the
objects become life companions
incorporated into our everyday
activities. MultiPot intuited all
this over ten years ago, presenting
itself as an energy facilitator
in day to day life. This is how
MultiPot became the icon of a
decade, a simple and elegant
object, the simple yet state–of–
the–art image of design and
of coolness, taking pride of
place on the desk of the famous
director of Vogue America, Anna
Wintour, who inspired the book
and film The Devil Wears Prada.
In 2015, MultiPot+ added the
experience of light and colour to
the emotion for something that
is even more bound to the self
and to the sphere of personal
experience. MultiPot+ has
integrated its use with new vibes
thanks to the play of lights that
creates new atmospheres. This
provides sensorial entertainment
and daily simplification as well
as surprise, fun and innovation.
Light and energy, in this way,
become an integral part of our
daily life, but without losing
that aura of innovative wonder
G
that for so many decades has
embodied the dream of advanced
modernity. The near future is yet
to be discovered, but one thing is
certain: it will be permeated by
daily happiness, made possible
by the onset of those ‘new
enlightenments’ proposed by
MultiPot’s launching campaign in
2005.
