Hans Hopfer a dessiné des canapés devenus
pour beaucoup des incontournables des
collections Roche Bobois. En 1971, il imagine le
Mah Jong, un canapé qui revendique une totale
liberté de forme et de fonction. À partir de trois
éléments simples, juxtaposés ou superposés,
le Mah Jong permet toutes les compositions,
des plus simples aux plus complexes.
Il permet toutes les positions, toutes les
utilisations, reflétant ainsi l’enthousiasme
et la vitalité de l’époque qui l’a vu naître.
Painter, sculptor and designer…
Hans Hopfer has designed several sofas that
have become iconic pieces in Roche Bobois
collections. In 1971, he created the Mah Jong,
a modular sofa based on total freedom
of form and function. Starting with three basic
elements that can be combined or stacked
together, the Mah Jong allows limitless options
of composition, ranging from simple to highly
complex. It allows for all positions and uses,
reflecting the enthusiasm and vitality of the
era from which it hails.
