You are the proud owner of a Remy Garnier creation. Congratulations.
Bronze is a rustic, porous, durable, and reactive metal that will age naturally in time. It is the
imperfections and variations that give bronze products their patina and charm.
Below please fi nd a few suggestions to maintain the appearance of your acquisitions.
We apply several types of fi nishing on our bronze pieces. All of them require the same care
in their maintenance. We propose these fi nishing:
• Varnished bronze
• Chromium
• Nickel
• Silvering
• Gilding
The best way to maintain bronze is simply to use a soft, clean cloth to polish the piece in
question to maintain its luster. Gently rub so as not to alter the patina or the fi nishing layer
of the bronze pieces.
The cloth can be moistened with water solution as necessary, wiped with a damp cloth, and
then dried with a fresh one.
Do not use abrasive or household products, window cleaners, acid-based restorers or poli-
shes, bleach, solvents, varnish, or other chemical compounds to clean your decorative hard-
ware unless specifi cally recommended by Rémy Garnier. These products can remove protec-
tive coatings or deteriorate fi nishes. Also, avoid scratches from sharp objects such as keys,
rings that could damage decorative hardware.
For light fi xtures and furniture:
• Mirrors and windows can be cleaned with alcohol-based, glass cleaners.
• Marble can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a specialized product.
• Wood varnished surfaces only require a simple wiping with a regular cloth. Furniture
waxes or polishes are unnecessary.
As with any other hardware, contact parts such as levers, plates, knobs, and doorstoppers,
will naturally develop micro scratches and will darken over time thereby adding to the cha-
racter of the piece.
If regular maintenance of the product proves insuffi cient due to conditions beyond your
control, it might be necessary to send the product to the workshop to restore either its shine
or patina.
Rémy Garnier is not responsible for damage caused by unsuitable cleaning products or a lack
of maintenance necessary of any hardware.
We invite you to contact us for any restauration requests which will entail a feasibility study
and your acceptance of the restoration estimate.
Thank you for your confi dence,
