Un tavolo scultoreo, quasi primordiale.
Un’icona di purezza formale disegnata
nel 1985 da Lella e Massimo Vignelli
e oggi rieditata da Poltrona Frau.
Mesa nasce dall’accostare due semplici
forme geometriche, un cerchio
e un cono. Il piano è in ardesia ligure
che, grazie alla tradizionale lavorazione
a spacco, mantiene in superfi cie rughe
e venature naturali. La colonna portante
è in pietra serena di colore grigio.
L’insieme appare come un monolite
materico, consistente e pieno,
ma al tempo stesso leggero. Punto
di raccordo fra piano e colonna è un
tubolare in acciaio brunito su cui poggia
una crociera a tre braccia che permette
di calibrare la posizione del top.
Un sottopiano in lamiera di acciaio
brunito dà ulteriore stabilità e
resistenza. Alla base del sostegno
in pietra è inserito un puntale sagomato
in materiale plastico nero.
A sculpted, almost primitive table, this
icon of formal purity was fi rst designed
in 1985 by Lella and Massimo Vignelli
and has now been revisited by Poltrona
Frau. Mesa table combines the two simple
geometric shapes of a circle and a cone.
The top is composed of Ligurian slate
which, thanks to the traditional splitting
technique, retains the rock’s natural
grooves and lines on the surface.
The supporting column is made from grey
Pietra Serena sandstone. The overall
eff ect is a physical monolith which is
solid and compact yet light at the same
time. The junction between the table
top and the column is formed of tubular
burnished steel and is mounted with
three brackets whose adjustable spacers
make it possible to change the position
of the top. A burnished sheet steel
surface base gives the surface additional
stability and strength, whilst the base
of the stone support is fi nished
with a shaped tip of black plastic.
Cette table sculptée, presque
primitive, icône de pureté formelle,
a été conçue tout d’abord en 1985
par Lella et Massimo Vignelli, et est
maintenant rééditée par Poltrona Frau.
La table Mesa combine les deux formes
géométriques simples du cercle et du
cône. Le dessus de table est en ardoise
de Ligurie qui, grâce à la technique
traditionnelle de clivage, maintient sur
sa surface les rugosités et les veines
naturelles de la roche. La colonne de
support est en Pierre de Florence de
couleur grise. L’eff et d’ensemble est un
monolithe physique, compact et massif
tout en étant léger. La jonction entre
le dessus de table et la colonne est
formée de tubes d’acier brunis et
est montée avec trois bras dont les
entretoises réglables permettent de
changer la position du dessus de table.
Un dessous de table en acier bruni
donne à la surface encore plus
de force et de stabilité, tandis que la
base du support en pierre est fi nie
par un embout façonné en matière
plastique noire.

wurde dieses Symbol der formalen
Reinheit im Jahre 1985 von Lella
und Massimo Vignelli entworfen und
wurde nun von Poltrona Frau neu
aufgelegt. Der Mesa Tisch vereint die
zwei einfachen geometrischen Formen
Kreis und Kegel. Die Tischplatte
besteht aus ligurischem Schiefer, der
dank der traditionellen Spalt-Technik,
die natürlichen Rillen und Linien des
Gesteins auf der Oberfl äche behält.
Die tragende Säule besteht aus grauem
Pietra Serena Sandstein.
Der Gesamteff ekt ist ein physikalischer
Monolith, der zugleich fest und kompakt,
aber dennoch leicht ist.
Die Verbindung zwischen der Tischplatte
und der Säule besteht aus rohrförmigem
brüniertem Stahl und ist mit drei
Klammern befestigt, deren verstellbare
Distanzscheiben es ermöglichen,
die Position der Oberseite zu verändern.
Eine polierte Stahlblechbasis verleiht
der Tischplatte eine zusätzliche
Stabilität und Festigkeit, während
die Basis des Steinträgers eine
geformte Spitze aus schwarzem
Kunststoff aufweist.
