The strong volumetric configuration
of Vanity Fair has raised it to the status
of a universally recognised icon of
Italian design. The padding uses both
hand-fashioned vegetal horsehair
and rubberised horsehair, the seat
cushion is filled with goose down. The
springing of the seat, back and arms is
by means of biconical hand-tied steel
springs fastened to jute belts.
Officially named “model 904”, but
known, since 1984, as Vanity Fair, over
time this chair has become the very
emblem of Poltrona Frau.
The project, which was first produced
in 1930 would appear to have been
re-elaborated from the designs left by
Renzo to his wife Sabina.
