Foundation
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural
Center, the new site of the Greek National
Opera, opened to the public in Athens in 2016.
The project includes a main theatre with 1400
seats and an experimental theatre with 400
seats; the National Library, with capacity for 2
million books, and a hilltop park of approximately
170,000 m² with 1500 m² of buildings. The
auxiliary buildings and the park were designed
with an eye on environmental performance and
sustainability. Poltrona Frau Custom Interiors
supplied the seats for the auditorium, working
in close collaboration with the RPBW - Renzo
Piano Building Workshop team.
