True Tomorrow
The concept of sustainability
according to Poltrona Frau.
From the implementation of processes
that reduce the environmental impact
of production, to the design of products
that can be disassembled and recycled,
to the durability and maintenance
of furnishings over time.
The 110th anniversary of the foundation
of Poltrona Frau is an opportunity not only to
celebrate the past, but above all to talk about
what the company wants to be. Its growth over
the last ten years has been a managed and con-
scious process, demonstrating that Poltrona
Frau knows how to evolve with the changing
times and meet the needs of the contemporary
world while respecting its own identity. This
insistence on its values is also expressed in the
concept of sustainability, today a strategic lever
of development.
Poltrona Frau has been a sustainable
brand since 1912, because it creates products
that are made to last, and because it presents
a model of responsible consumption that uses
natural materials. The company’s conscious
approach to sustainable contents continues to
grow today, as it adopts solutions in the leather
tanning process with a reduced environmental
impact, as well as in product designs, which
right from the start consider the logic of recy-
cling and end of life disposal of the materials
used. The company also pursues sustainability
at the production plant in Tolentino by man-
aging the supply of energy sources and the
entire supply chain. Sustainability, therefore,
is a path of awareness that is already actively
and progressively reducing the environmental
impact of processes and products considered
part of the life cycle. The most technically and
economically effi cient and technologically
advanced solutions are sought in close synergy
between the technical offi ces and the quality
offi ce at Poltrona Frau and outside partner
companies.
Sustainability
starts
from
the
raw
materials. Leather, Poltrona Frau’s material
of choice, is natural, renewable and circular,
because it comes exclusively from food
industry waste. Thanks to the internal Research
& Development Department, for over thirty
years the company has carried out a series of
implementations concerning the sustainability
of leather which have led to reduced use of
energy resources and substances that have an
impact on the environment and human labour.
A strategic and convergent control of the entire
production process is in place, starting with
the traceable and certifi ed supply of the raw
