Hôtel Lutetia
After four years of renovation directed
by French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte,
the Hôtel Lutetia, built in 1910, reopened on
the Left Bank in 2018, a tribute to the applied
arts and craftsmanship. Located in the heart
of Paris, the building possesses a magical
atmosphere that combines the highest
standards of luxury hôtellerie with the
refined Art Nouveau and Art Deco works
found inside, expressed in a wealth of
stained-glass windows, paintings, frescoes,
mosaics and sculptures.
The Wilmotte studio oversaw every
aspect of the project, with countless master-
fully executed construction details. The
studio designed all the furnishings, both fix-
tures and furniture, relying on the expertise
of Poltrona Frau Custom Interiors to create
the latter. The nine furnishings developed
with Poltrona Frau cover the fitting out of
the 184 bedrooms. These include: table arm-
chairs in Pelle Frau® leather, with or without
armrests; lounge armchairs with full sides
and a “cannage” effect created with leather
weaving; “eiffel”, with sides characterised by
solid wood slats that evoke the latticework
of the famous tower; or the sofas and the
méridienne, upholstered in fine custom
fabrics that are different for each suite. The
seating system is designed to enhance the
uniqueness of the spaces and emphasise the
excellence of the artisan workmanship.
