have a new synergy.
In 2018, the Poltrona Frau Group, now
Lifestyle Design, had the foresight to take
majority ownership of Ceccotti Collezioni.
Ceccotti Collezioni was founded in 1988
by Franco Ceccotti as an off shoot from his
father’s company, Ceccotti Aviero, located in
Cascina a town between Pisa and Florence,
that had been producing high quality wood
furniture and hotel supplies since 1956.
Its products are the sublime combination
between design and expert carpentry, and
their manufacturing is so diffi cult that they
cannot be replicated. Solid wood is worked in
curved, organic and experimental shapes that
evoke the eclectic and surreal world of Antoni
Gaudí or Carlo Mollino, as well as the expert
knowledge of wood that characterised Scan-
dinavian design in the 1950s.
Over time, Franco Ceccotti has created
an image that breaks with the mainstream,
giving rise to a “Ceccotti style” that is charac-
terised by a subtle balance of proportions, by
sinuosity that defi es the laws of mechanics,
and by personally selected materials of the
highest quality. In fact, the Tuscany-based
business has established a long-standing
partnership with a small company in Penn-
sylvania that supplies American Walnut. This
guarantees the highest quality solid wood, and
control of the entire woodworking process up
to the seasoning phase. Ceccotti Collezioni
is the antithesis of industrial production
devoted to speed and maximum productivity.
Small batches are made to order with a team
of forty craftsmen, studying every detail, such
as the custom-made hardware or the Italian
poplar plywood inside the furniture which
allows the furniture to be disassembled and
reassembled while maintaining its integrity
and functionality over time.
The two brands converge in their forms
of expression, each in its own material of
choice: leather for Poltrona Frau, wood for
Ceccotti Collezioni. Both pursue uncompro-
mising quality thanks to the experience and
sensibility of their craftspeople. In Cascina
and Tolentino alike, each company has been
able to establish and develop a bond with
the local area, where they have contributed
to handing down craftsmanship skills and
expertise from generation to generation
through applied training. Because the drive
towards beauty that unites the two brands
begins with the sum of their skills, and their
common passion for well done work.
Poltrona Frau and Ceccotti Collezioni
produce high-end, unique furnishings that
go beyond any mannerism or fashion. The
affi nity of taste between the two brands
has now become a complementary design
relationship. The results are the fi rst shared
collections, which leverage each company’s
manufacturing specialities while maintaining
their own distinctive style and characteristics.
