A geometric and slender flower, charac-
terised by two surfaces that intersect and
give rise to the backrest and armrests of the
armchair. The concept behind Carla seat
was to create a compact object that could
perform at its best even in the smallest
spaces. It is light and simple, with rhomboid-
shaped armrests and a tip-up seat. Simple
and minimalist, the product combines
comfort and functionality with aesthetic
balance.
Here, Poltrona Frau has expressed its
ability to fully interpret the philosophy of a
bespoke project, from design to engineering,
with attention to the tailoring and to every
construction detail. Like the seat, which folds
down by gravity on noise-damping nylon
joints and can be adjusted in height to opti-
mise visibility. The materials were carefully
selected to create a comfortable and con-
temporary seat. The lightly padded MDF
wood structure can be upholstered in Pelle
Frau® leather, fabric or velvet, tailored
entirely by hand using traditional upholstery
methods. On request, the Carla armchair can
be equipped with wooden backrest and under
seat panels, and a foldaway writing table that
has multiple uses. Design, functionality and
choice of materials for a seat that can last
over time.
