Poltrona Frau Meets Ferrari
Lloyd Wins the Wallpaper*
Design Award
The Poltrona Frau Tour in Asia
Ren Wins the Elle Decor
International Design Awards
(EDIDA) and the Wallpaper*
Design Award
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the
Casa di Maranello - Ferrari - the Poltrona Frau
design team directed by Flavio Manzoni creates
an offi ce seat that captures the emotional charge,
the sensation of speed and the passion of racing
usually experienced in the driver’s seat. The seat is
a contemporary hybrid where the two brands and
the two industrial philosophies combine.
The Lloyd bookcase, designed by Jean-Marie
Massaud, is awarded the prestigious Wallpaper*
Design Award in the “Best Cabinet” category, an
award that determines which products become
global trendsetters. The previous year, Lloyd also
won the Italian Archiproducts Design Awards.
The 2007 Pershing 72 was Poltrona Frau’s
fi rst collaboration with the Ferretti Group.
Ten years later, this enduring partnership was
celebrated with the production of the interiors
for the Pershing 9X. Over the years, the Interiors
in Motion business unit has been able to create
fabulous installations for the Ferretti, Pershing
and Wally brands, including luxurious interiors,
futuristic command chairs and leather upholstery,
developed ad hoc to withstand the challenging
saltwater climate. A winning partnership, thanks
to the fruitful collaboration between the techni-
cians from the two companies.
Roberto Lazzeroni, one of Poltrona Frau’s
longest-standing collaborators, and CEO Nicola
Coropulis, General Manager at the time, tell the
story of the Brand through anecdotes, dreams and
aspirations. In China, they stop in Shanghai, Nanjing
and Beijing. In Vietnam, at Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ren collection, designed by Neri&Hu,
which had already been recognised the previous
year at the NYCxDESIGN Awards in the “Storage”
section receives two awards: the prestigious
EDIDA in the “Furniture” category, and the Wall-
paper* Design Award in the “Best Chinese Take-
away” category. The collection takes its name
from the Chinese character ‘ren’, which means
person, and consists of two simple strokes. In the
furnishings, as in the pictogram, the longer section
is supported by the shorter one.

Jobs Wins the Wallpaper*
Design Award
Poltrona Frau opens its most important
monobrand store in Milan, inside Palazzo Gallarati
Scotti, an early eighteenth-century building in
the late Baroque style. The space, renovated
with respect towards the building’s historical and
architectural value and in harmony with the values
of the Brand, occupies more than 800 square
meters, and represents the main showcase for
Poltrona Frau in the world as well as a space for
experimenting new distribution formats.
For the fourth consecutive year, Poltrona Frau
collaborates with the design department of the
Parsons School of Design organizing a workshop
with the students. The workshops produce luxury
objects and accessories using waste leather that
comes from the Pelle Frau® production process,
maximising the potential of the material and
highlighting Poltrona Frau’s zero-waste design
initiatives.
The fi rst chapter of a catalogue curated by
Marco Romanelli that highlights iconic armchairs
designed by six masters of Italian design through
the lens of his careful philological research: Renzo
Frau, Gio Ponti, Guglielmo Ulrich, Gastone Rinaldi,
Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Furnishings
in which the form is representative of a historical
period and emblematic of the design poetics of a
particular author.
Poltrona Frau celebrates ten years of
collaboration with Jean-Marie Massaud with an
installation during the D’Days festival in Paris. A
3 km-long strip of leather, suspended from the
ceiling like an uninterrupted pencil line, creates
light and shadow eff ects on four “landscapes”,
each dedicated to an emblematic design: Archiba-
ld Grand Comfort, Scarlett, Kennedee and Bullit.
The fourth Wallpaper* Design Award for Pol-
trona Frau is awarded to the Jobs desk, designed
by Rodolfo Dordoni, a designer who interprets
executive offi ces with refi nement, simplicity and
attention to detail. This highly sought-after recog-
nition was previously awarded to the Kennedee,
Archibald and GranTorino models, all designed by
Jean-Marie Massaud.
