True Tomorrow
100+10 Years of True Evolution
Archibald Anniversary Limited Edition
reinterprets Poltrona Frau’s history and
hand crafting knowledge through the
vibrant colour and digital aesthetic of
artist Felipe Pantone. A hyper-modern
style, symbol of research into materials
and experimentation in expressive
languages.
To celebrate the 110th anniversary, Pol-
trona Frau asked Argentine-Spanish artist
Felipe Pantone to reinvent one of its most
iconic products, Archibald. The artist has
designed a mesmerising motif that makes
the surface of the armchair alive and vibrant:
a gradient grid of reds, oranges, yellows,
whites and blues that recall the hot and
cold temperatures of a heat map. And so,
Archibald, characterised by a simple balance
of form and timeless elegance, fi nds a digital
aesthetic that dissolves the contours, giving
it a totally new image. The exclusive pattern
is digitally printed on Pelle Frau® Impact
Less leather using a technique that is new for
the Tolentino-based company and usually
reserved for small luxury leather goods.
With this exceptional work, Poltrona
Frau inaugurates an experimental path with
a contemporary artist, demonstrating that
it knows how to go beyond the language
for which it is so well-known towards unex-
plored design horizons. Archibald Limited
Edition, with only 110 pieces of this model
produced, refl ects the years of this important
anniversary and is emblematic of the compa-
ny’s capacity for renewal, while respecting
tradition and its manufacturing culture.
Felipe Pantone, born in Buenos Aires in
1989 but based in Valencia, started as a street
artist. His language combines kinetic art,
references to Op Art and digital art. His work
has an expressive modality that is confi gured
in the immateriality of the screen, recalling
the pixels or chromatic motifs of televisions
or PCs, but which knows how to relate to the
physicality of the work, the theory of colour,
natural light and movement. His frescoes
and murals, so well-known by Millennials,
interact with the actions of the spectators
