The natural beauty of the wood, enhanced by an understated and
durable catalyzed, satin clearcoat. Each piece is deluxed before it
leaves the facility through fine sanding, sealing, spraying and curing.
Our natural finish is a celebration of the grain of the wood in its
original form.
Weather worn woods left out in the sun and rain for months at a time
take on a wonderfully-aged patina. By cerusing the wood and applying
a multi-step finish, we achieve a stone-like effect which preserves the
rough texture and rich color of the wood.
The word Uber is defined as a great example of something, and what
could be more appropriate when describing this finish. By applying a
multi-step, high-gloss finish, our Chamcha wood takes on a brilliance
you simply have to see to believe.
Our bleached finish is our longest and most involved process. It is
achieved by using special solvents that cause the heavy oils deep
within the wood to come to the surface and be wiped away. The piece
must then be washed, solvents reapplied and then be exposed to the
sun for weeks. This entire process is repeated as many as four times as
needed.
We struggled for years to find the right brown, and it was only during
a recent, unfortunate fire in one of our kilns that we discovered the
perfect brown. In an attempt to salvage a large dining slab, we scraped
off the charred top layers to reveal the unharmed core. We sealed,
stained and finished the piece and realized we created a stunning
finish. We aptly call it “Perfect Brown”.
Our espresso finish is achieved by using our proprietary dark stain.
This special treatment brings out a depth to the wood grain without
compromising the original luster. A satin clear coat pairs beautifully
with the smooth surface of the wood, giving the piece a luxurious and
organic feel.
This ebonized finish is achieved by charring the surface of the tables
with a blowtorch, then sealing the piece with a multi-step finish. The
satin clear coat is durable yet understated. The resulting charred effect
gives these pieces a character of their own, and pairs beautifully with
polished silver, brass or black nickel legs.
When a tree is struck by lightning, the bark is charred to a matte black.
Inspired by this sharp contrast of the blackened outer edge to the
natural core of these roots, we recreated this effect with a blowtorch.
