L’hand tufting è una tecnica che consiste nel fissare
singoli fili su una base di tessuto con un apposito attrezzo
meccanico, in modo da creare anelli senza nodi che danno
vita a tappeti soffici e compatti. Paola Lenti ha interpretato
l’hand tufting in chiave contemporanea: trecce tonde o
tubolari di filato Rope sono fissate a differenti altezze sulla
base tessile. Il risultato è una famiglia di tappeti che parlano
un linguaggio moderno attraverso tecniche squisitamente
tradizionali e che abbinano design e sapiente manualità su
superfici dall’aspetto sorprendentemente tridimensionale.
Hand tufting is a technique that involves using a special
mechanical tool to fix single threads on a fabric backing
to create loops without knots that bring soft and compact
rugs to life. Paola Lenti has interpreted hand-tufting
in a contemporary key: round or flat braids in Rope yarn
are fixed at different heights on the textile backing. The
result is a series of rugs that speak a modern language
using exquisitely traditional techniques, combining
design and manual dexterity to create surfaces with an
unprecedented three-dimensional appearance.
