Da qui, grazie a una nuova intuizione,
l’idea di fare di questo filato e dei
tessuti che ne derivano veri e propri
elementi strutturali per nuovi progetti.
Quattro anni di ricerca, in collaborazione
con partner esterni, ci hanno permesso
di trasformare il tessuto ottenuto con
Twiggy in un materiale portante
monomaterico capace di acquisire
forma e portanza.
Così è nato diade: un materiale
brevettato, completamente nuovo,
che associa caratteristiche strutturali
simili a quelle di altri materiali di
sintesi, ma con il vantaggio di essere
completamente riciclabile e con
la piacevolezza estetica e tattile
del tessuto che ne è alla base
e di cui mantiene le peculiarità
funzionali e formali2.
Out of this initial advancement,
a hunch and insight led us to try to
adapt this yarn and the fabrics that
we make from it, repurposing the
textile as full-fledged structural
elements to be used in new products.
Four years of research, in a joint
effort with outside partners, led to
the transformation of a Twiggy fabric
into a moldable single-material
load-bearing substance, endowed
with three-dimensional shape
and strength.
This new material is diade:
it’s patented and completely new,
combining structural characteristics
comparable to those of other
synthetic materials, but with the
added advantage of being completely
recyclable. It also features the pleasing
esthetic and tactile qualities of the
fabric from which it was developed,
preserving Twiggy’s functional and
formal characteristics2.

no smaltiti in discarica, ma possono essere trasformati in un nuovo
materiale, di caratteristiche simili a quello originario, utilizzabile
per nuove produzioni.
2 Since they are made from a single material, Twiggy and Diade are
easily and completely recyclable: once they are taken out of use, they
need not be sent to a dump for disposal. Instead they can be trans-
formed into a new material possessing characteristics similar to the
original one, ready for use in manufacturing new products.
