Traditional, truly artisanal woodwork-
ing techniques are a rarity in today’s
world. It was a great joy to have the
opportunity to create furniture using
solely human craftsmanship.
In our first project for Paged,
we aimed to focus on our favorite
elements, so essential of the brand:
bentwood and rattan weaving. We
are familiar with many iconic chairs
created using these techniques.
Somewhat rebelliously, we designed
coffee tables to showcase how
versatile these traditional materials
can be.
In the DRUM table family,
we proposed two shapes and sizes
that can function independently
or together. Both forms are based
on the same principle - a wooden
top is enclosed in a rounded loop
of bentwood. The lower shelf, light
and airy, made of natural weave
is stretched over a wooden frame.
The quality of the furniture depends
on the proper tension, and it was
precisely this element, stretched
like a drum, that inspired the name.
I hope that this visually
and physically lightweight table
will demonstrate how traditional
materials - bentwood and classic
weaving - can create contemporary
forms for modern interiors.

to w dzisiejszych czasach rzadkość.
Tym większą radością była możli-
wość stworzenia mebla właśnie
za pomocą pracy ludzkich rąk.
W naszym pierwszym projekcie
dla Paged chcieliśmy skupić się na
naszych ulubionych elementach,
tak charakterystycznych dla marki:
giętym drewnie i wyplocie z rattanu.
Znamy wiele ikonicznych krzeseł
stworzonych tą techniką. Trochę
przekornie, zaprojektowaliśmy stoliki
kawowe, po to, by pokazać jak uniwer-
salne są te tradycyjne materiały.
W rodzinie stolików DRUM
zapropnowaliśmy dwa kształty
i rozmiary, mogące funkcjonować
osobno i razem. Obie formy oparte
są na tej samej zasadzie – drewniany
blat zamknięty został w obłej pętli
z gięciny, a dolna półka, lekka i ażuro-
wa, to naturalny wyplot, naciągnięty
na drewnianej ramie. To od właści-
wego naciągu zależy jakość mebla
i właśnie ten element, napięty jak
bębenek, stał się inspiracją dla nazwy.
Mam nadzieję, że ten wizual-
nie i fizycznie lekki stolik, pokaże jak
tradycyjne materiały – gięte drewno
i klasyczny wyplot, mogą tworzyć
aktualne formy do współczesnych
wnętrz.
