The waiters circulated among the
guests, holding enormous trays
loaded with Vodka Tonic and
Tocai wine, filling glasses to
the brim, even those of the
sleeping. As glass after glass
was proffered, it occurred to us
that this ritual refilling might
actually have been an order
issued by the Untouchables
