Disegnato da Patricia Urquiola nel
2012, è costituito da blocchi smussati dal
taglio di una lama immaginaria. L’ordine
geometrico è rotto, travolto a favore di un
movimento, di un margine che attraversa
i perimetri. Le facce rendono evidente la
nervatura; alcune cuciture, evidenti come
imbastiture, la disegnano, altre scompaiono.
L’utilizzo è libero, la superficie morbida.
La forma esterna, dal punto di vista dei
volumi, appare indipendente dalla struttura
e dall’imbottitura interna. Divano, poltrona,
poltroncina: un sistema componibile dove
ogni elemento mantiene indipendente il
carattere, per funzione e presenza scultorea.
Il nome – M.A.S.S.A.S. – è l’acronimo
di “Moroso Asymmetric Sofa System
Adorably Stitched”: una scelta giocosa che
però risulta esaustiva nel descriverne le
caratteristiche formali.
Designed by Patricia Urquiola in 2012,
the collection consists of blocks trimmed
by the cut of an imaginary blade. Geometric
order is broken, swept away in favour
of movement, of a margin that crosses
perimeters. Faces reveal veining, visible
in some of the stitching as tacking, while
other stitching is hidden. It’s a flexible
collection with soft surfaces. The external
contours appear independent of the frame
and internal padding. Sofa, armchair and
small armchair: a modular system in which
each element has an independent function
and sculptural character. M.A.S.S.A.S.
is the acronym of “Moroso Asymmetric Sofa
System Adorably Stitched”, a light-hearted
description that nevertheless fully reflects
its physical characteristics.
