2000, Lowland è un sistema di sedute
costituito da elementi di forma semplice
in rapporto dinamico l’una con l’altra.
Pensato anche per l’utilizzo in spazi
comuni e pubblici, esprime le sue
qualità architettoniche prevalentemente
in ambienti domestici. Essenzialità,
dinamismo e trasformazione rappresentano
il trait d’union che accomuna elementi
formalmente separati. Seduta e schienale
sono moduli da coordinare, accostare,
riconfigurare con la massima libertà
compositiva. I braccioli racchiudono una
composizione come due parentesi quadre
racchiudono una frase. Un linguaggio
che, dal divano, si estende per assonanza
estetica anche al letto.
Designed by Patricia Urquiola in 2000,
the Lowland seating system comprises
elements of simple form in dynamic
relationship with each other. Although
also conceived for use in common and
public spaces, its architectural qualities
stand out in domestic environments.
Essentiality, dynamism and transformation
represent the trait d’union uniting elements
of diverse forms. Seats and backs
are modules that can be coordinated,
combined and reconfigured with full
compositional freedom. The armrests
enclose a composition as brackets enclose
a sentence. A language that extends from
the sofa to the bed in aesthetic assonance.
