Insieme ad un archeologo sperimentale specializzato
nella ceramica del neolitico, abbiamo realizzato un
vaso in base alle tecnologie di quel lontano periodo, a
partire dal reperimento dell’argilla nei luoghi
originali fino all’accensione del fuoco e cottura in
forni scavati nel terreno. Successivamente ne ho
rivestito l’interno con il Cernit, un’argilla sintetica
che indurisce tramite una cottura a basse temperature,
nel tentavo di unire in un unico oggetto la nascita e
lo sviluppo odierno di una tecnologia, andando ad
indagare la democratizzazione e di conseguenza la
banalizzazione di una tecnica /
Working in collaboration with an experimental
archaeologist, we produced a vase using early
Neolithic ceramic techniques, firing methods and
the raw materials which were available to craftsman
during that period. During the second phase
of the project, I coated the interior of the Neolithic
vase with Cernit; a common contemporary
polychrome synthetic clay with an extremely low
firing temperature. Merging these two materials and
processes together into a single object which
encompasses the complete span of the history
of ceramics from its origins to the latest developments
of contemporary technology. Investigating the
democratization and the banalization of a technique
and material, from a process that was once the realm
of ancient mystery to modern consumerism.

Un vecchio televisore a tubo catodico racchiude circa
2 kg di rame, il rifuto si rivela miniera da cui
estrarre il minerale. Attraverso una reazione
esotermica dal rame si ottiene il solfato, noto come il
‘verde rame’ tipico disinfettante e fungicida usato
nella viticoltura. Spruzzando il solfato ricavato su
una tela avviene che il pigmento anziché avere uno
scopo estetico svolge una funzione di protezione del
supporto tela /
An old CRT TV contain approximately 2 kg
of copper, the waste reveles to be a mine from which
to extract the ore. Through an exothermic reaction
is obtained the copper sulphate, known as the
‘copper green’ typical disinfectant and fungicide
used in vineyards. Spraying the sulphate formed on
a canvas is made that the pigment instead of having
an aesthetic purpose has a protective function
on the canvas support.
