Often it was Sicily, the birthplace of the artist,
with all its contradictions, that became the
protagonist. He doesn’t narrate stories and
recollections or create protagonists in his
work, but rather opens them up and reveals
them. This is how Merano (2000), Encastrolo
(2001) and Pizzosella (2004) were formed,
lived situations full of sincerity and natural-
ness, composed by someone with an eye for
the contrasts of reality.
The act of directly recording the world beco-
mes a moment to grasp what otherwise esca-
pes in a reflection on the extraordinary. In
Dark Messages (2006) an accident occurring
at night, shot by the artist, is laden with dar-
kness and suspicion, transforming the real
into the abnormal.
In his solo exhibition Over the Blurring Shine
(2008) to Hendrik Christian Andersen Mu-
seum in Rome, the artist presented his vision

per assassinare il re Umberto I nel palazzo Reale di Monza. 515 è una visione ironica del ritorno di Bresci
al palazzo oggi, alludendo alla situazione politica attuale in Italia. Il lavoro è stato realizzato per la Biennale
di Monza, che ha avuto luogo proprio nel Palazzo Reale /
This project is inspired on the story of the anarchist Gaetano Bresci who emigrated to the United States and
returned in Italy to assassinate king Umberto I in the Royal palace of Monza. 515 is an ironic vision of the
return of Bresci to the palace today, alluding the actual political situation in Italy. The work was made for the
biennale in Monza that took place in the Royal palace.
