Pensare che i fumetti non si leggano più, è un grosso errore; negli ultimi
anni sono tornati a scalare le classifiche delle letture più vendute al pari dei
grandi best-seller. Se Topolino e Tex, negli anni d’oro della fumettistica,
erano letti solo da bambini e ragazzi gelosissimi della propria serie completa,
oggi sempre più adulti sono affascinati da autori italiani e stranieri e
considerano i fumetti e le graphic novel narrativa a tutti gli effetti e vera
forma d’arte. Alcuni psicologi ritengono che i fumetti aiutino a migliorare la
lettura, molto probabilmente perché hanno una struttura visiva che facilita
la comprensione del testo e invita a seguire la storia coinvolgendo il lettore
con passione e senza distrazioni. Ottimo antidoto per invertire la tendenza
negativa della crisi del libro e avvicinare i ragazzi alla lettura e al disegno.
Sognando in grande, creare fumetti potrebbe diventare una professione
vicina a quella dell’illustratore o dello sceneggiatore. La parola chiave è
fantasticare perché i veri supereroi, quelli che possono salvare il mondo,
sono coloro che lavorano per l’arte e la cultura.

recent years. Mickey Mouse and Tex may have been firm favourites
among teenagers and children back in the golden years of comic books,
but an increasing number of adults are drawn to Italian and international
comics and graphic novels, which are becoming fully-fledged art forms.
Some psychologists believe that comics help improve our reading
comprehension skills, most likely because they possess a visual structure
that facilitates understanding, allowing readers to follow an engaging
story without distractions. They are an excellent antidote to the reading
crisis and help to get children excited about learning and drawing. If
you’re dreaming big, writing comic books is a valid profession just like
illustration or screenwriting. The keyword here is imagination, because
the real superheroes, the ones who are going to save the world, are the
people who work in the art and culture sectors.
