MATErIALS – MANTAINANCE AND CLEANING
rESPECT FOr NATUrE
Morelato uses for the production of its furniture only wood coming from plantations
thus avoiding deforestation. As Morelato furniture lasts over the years also the
problem of the recycling of wood , typical for low quality furniture is avoided.
WOOD
Wood is a natural material. Each piece of wood has its own colour and vain pattern.
Differences in the vain pattern are no reason for complaint as their outcome is
a different colour shade. Small shade differences are no grounds for complaint.
Never use thinners, alcohol, chemical abrasives or solvents for the maintenance
and cleaning.
For all frame parts Morelato uses solid wood, which guarantees the functionality
(endurance, stability, aesthe-tics) of the product over the years. For some of the
surfaces veneered panels of multilayered wood are used. Each layer of wood is
pressed in a 180° position upon the other so that the different layers support each
other and deformation due to changes in temperature and humidity are avoided.
Also other panels composed of lists of wood are used for the surfaces. They have a
double counter-pressed external veneer. For the large surfaces such as the wardrobe
doors, Morelato uses hollow wood panels. The frames are made of solid wood
while inside a honey-bee structure reduces the weight of these panels. Morelato
does not use any chipboard panels in its production.
CONSTrUCTION TECHNIQUES
For the assembly of its furniture Morelato uses a joint technique. The pieces of
each item are joined thanks to the mill cutting and counter cutting so that they
fit perfectly. This artisan technique increases the value of the furniture. Other
peculiarities are the adjustable wooden shelf supports, the dovetail and the comb
joint, which enforce the seats of the chairs.
THE POLISHING
For the finishing Morelato uses the best products available on the market. Surfaces
are polished with highly resistant ecological varnish able to guarantee the colour
over the years. Samples of the different colours of finishing can be found in our
fabric and wood sample folder. For customized finishing a colour sample or another
furniture component as a reference is required.
Pieces of furniture purchased at different moments may present differences
colour and shades. Never use thinners, alcohol, chemical abrasives or solvents
for the maintenance and cleaning.
THE FABrICS
The upholstery of chairs and sofas is still a artisan craft. For the upholstered items
it is possible to select a fabric from the sample folder or the customer can send us
his fabric for the upholstery.
Leather: Morelato uses exclusively high quality materials and leather for a
production which still respects the best Italian artisan tradition. As leather is a
natural product its colour and structure will never be uniform: the small differences
guarantee the total quality of the material used. A wrinkled surface is not a defect
as leather cannot be uniform, thus each small wrinkle is a sign of authenticity. For
the cleaning of the leather surfaces specific leather cleaning products must be used.
We inform our customers that leather is not water proof.
Fabric: The colours of the fabric in the sample folder are approximate: it is in fact
impossible in the course of time to maintain the colour shade. We decline any
responsibility for the colour-matching of articles upholstered with fabric acquired
at different moments.
To clean items with fixed fabric: use a dry foam spray for upholstery and brush with
care but not too energetically.
To clean items with removable lining: dry-wash the fabric or wash at low
temperature (max. 30°) using a short programme and soft soap. Do not wring or
centrifuge and let the fabric dry in the shadow. If necessary iron with a steam iron
at low temperature.
