Vincent Van Duysen has designed Louisa, a set of round
and oval coffee tables in which the presence of both
wood and cement conveys an innovative tactile and
aesthetic effect. The load-bearing structure, a conical
central plinth, is raised from the floor and inserted
into a space hollowed out within it. The table tops,
a bit like suspended trays, come in ash, brick red or
white cement or in Eucalyptus wood and feature an
original radial motif, achieved by means of a special
procedure for joining up the slabs. The base is made
of curved plywood with a Eucalyptus veneer or of
bent sheet metal painted pewter colour, brick red or
white. Transversal objects, combined at will, simply,
lightly, elegantly: the quintessence of modern design.
Vincent Van Duysen progetta Louisa, una serie di
tavolini tondi e ovali in cui la presenza del legno e
del cemento è dichiarata con una percezione tattile
ed estetica innovativa. La struttura portante, un
plinto centrale conico, si solleva da terra e si innesta
in un piano scavato al suo interno. I piani, quasi dei
vassoi in sospensione, possono essere in cemento
colore cenere, rosso mattone o bianco, o in essenza
Eucalipto, si contraddistinguono per un originale motivo
raggiato, ottenuto tramite un particolare procedimento
di giunzione delle lastre. Il basamento è realizzato in
curvato di multistrato rivestito di essenza di Eucalipto o
in lamiera piegata verniciata nel colore peltro, mattone
o bianco. Oggetti trasversali, combinabili tra loro a
piacimento, con semplicità, leggerezza, eleganza: la
quintessenza del design moderno.
