After completing his studies at the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture
in 1999, Tom started working as a researcher at the Maerlant
Centre in Ghent under the supervision of Professor Raoul Bauer.
He combined this in 2000 with seminars and lectures within the
Architectural Theory program at KU Leuven. In 2001, Tom began
an internship with architect Jo Crepain. Together with architect
Paul Vantieghem, he established Leon Architects in 2003. In 2005,
he began working freelance for various projects within BURO II
& ARCHI+I. Since 2011, Tom has been head of design, a partner at
BURO II & ARCHI+I and a member of the management team.
From two architectural offices established in 1979, BURO II &
ARCHI+I has grown into a multidisciplinary office committed
to taking a professional approach to every project. Customers
benefit from the services of an experienced, well-connected
team that works from a foundation of shared values. “The way
we undertake projects is based on permanently applying values
that reinforce each other: sociocultural value, experiential
value, building-technical value and economic value.”
