Lumè lamps by Giovanni Barbato new collections 2017
THE NEW SHAPES OF THE TRADITION
mold, infrequently used today, which has
as its characteristic not to force the blown
glass in closed and rigid shapes, but leave
it free to expand and dilate more open and
natural forms, with minor differences for
each puff.
Onda
lamps
are
characterized
by
horizontal edges distributed in a non-
regular way and realized with important
glass thicknesses; the irregularity of the
moldings and the “lens” effect due to the
thickness and the concavity, determine a
greater lights reflection, make hazy and
uncertain contours, giving a “liquid” image
/ feeling .
The new collection designed for Mazzega
arises the enhancement of glass as a theme
and goal, transforming it from simple light
diffuser and screen into something vital
and dynamic, an object which capture the
light, reflects it and refract it.
With this aim, it has been worked and
played with glass surfaces, looking for
textures, weaves, reliefs, marquetries in
order to create special effects and finding
them in the processing techniques of the
Murano artistic tradition.
In particular for the lamp series Lumè it
has been used the “balleton”, the “rigadin”
and “bolle” techniques, finishes realized
with the use of special bronze molds
called “frachi”.
For Profili models it is proposed an open
design
